Final week, Flowcopter participated within the inaugural Offshore Drone Problem (ODC) going down on the Nationwide Experimental Check Heart of Unmanned Plane Methods in Cochstedt, Germany. Sponsored by vitality large EnBW in partnership with the German Aerospace Heart (DLR), the ODC has been created as a possibility for main drone producers to showcase their plane in entrance of main offshore wind operators and main figures in Transport, EU Drone Regulation and the German Authorities.
EnBW states that; ‘Offshore wind farms play a key role in achieving our climate targets and are designed for a service life of over twenty years. The challenge is that they are often located far from the coast. We rely on innovative technologies to optimize the operation and maintenance of these turbines.’
Flowcopter, represented by Technical Director, Dr. Uwe Stein, introduced their FC100 Utility UAV, with it’s 100kg payload capability and 200km vary, as a commercially viable heavy raise answer for Offshore Wind that may assist considerably cut back O&M prices for operators and enhance uptime.
Dr. Stein mentioned, ‘Offshore Wind servicing is just one of the application areas we know our FC100 Utility UAV platform is perfectly suited. The large payload, long endurance and gust resistant capabilities make it ideally suited for the harsh offshore environments that we know current battery electric systems are unable to cope with’.
The ODC follows on from current profitable flight trials of Flowcopter’s FC100 on the UAS Denmark Check Centre in Odense, Denmark in April this 12 months adopted by an exhibition on the Worldwide Drone Present at Hans Christian Andersen Airport in Could.
