My good friend Jørn Grønkjær referred to as me up and mentioned: “Jesper, you have to see this, I’m getting my 1913 Detroit Electric towed to an exhibition at Aalborg Congress & culture center, by a Ford F-150 Lightning!”

My jaw dropped. It’s one factor that I’m fortunate sufficient to know the man who owns one of many only a few Detroit Electrical autos on the planet, that I wrote in depth about (with video), however because it turned out, the proprietor of an area auto store, Kim Hansen, had lately traveled to New York and bought a Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat and had it shipped to Denmark within the hope of getting it legally on the street. Wherein he succeeded, and celebrated by becoming 26-inch wheels on it!

It was a ravishing, chill, and sunny day, and I met up with Jørn, Kim, and his daughter Helena on the place the Detroit Electrical is saved. I requested Jørn why he was taking it to Aalborg, and he mentioned he can be showcasing it on the tenth European Convention on Sustainable Cities & Cities on October 1st by way of third. The 4th largest metropolis in Denmark, Aalborg, is internet hosting the convention on the circumstances for unlocking the complete potential of native governance within the democratic transformation in direction of a local weather impartial, equitable, and resilient Europe. The ESCT convention is organized by the municipality of Aalborg and ICLEI — Native Governments for Sustainability.

Jørn himself would accompany the motorcade in a model new Ford Explorer EV. It was fairly the sight, so I’ll let the photographs converse for themselves.

The roughly 80 miles was a chunk of cake for the Ford F-150 Lightning to tow the Detroit Electrical. No charging wanted. Had it failed, although, the Detroit would have made it by itself with its +100 miles of vary, albeit a bit slower!
