Constructing on the success of the US DOE SuperTruck 2’s effectivity enhancements, the SuperTruck 3 initiative seeks to cut back medium/heavy truck greenhouse fuel (GHG) emissions by 75% (on a lifecycle foundation) and cut back the full value of truck possession. The primary SuperTruck initiative was launched in 2009 with 4 trade members efficiently demonstrating new environment friendly applied sciences for Class 8 vehicles, lots of which had been commercialized. SuperTruck 2 had 5 trade members succeed with rising Class 8 truck freight effectivity and engine brake thermal effectivity. The members in SuperTruck 3 are concentrating on electrical and gas cell functions for medium- and heavy-duty (MD/HD) vehicles.
